Dr. Lindsey Romo grew up in Augusta, Georgia always having pets as a part of her family.
"From an early age, I always had a special love for animals. I recall volunteering at the humane society when I was around 12 years old and asking how I could make the kitty's environment more sanitary and appealing so they could be adopted. So, I scrubbed the walls!"
Dr. Romo was accepted to a Fine Arts Magnet School from which she graduated at the top of her class. Though she had a strong interest in sciences, she also has excelled in music and dance. As she recalls, "I once had to do a violin audition with a broken arm! Somehow it turned out well!" In addition to her academic and musical accomplishments, she was an accomplished athlete in rowing, which landed her an academic and athletic scholarship to the University of Tulsa where she majored in biochemistry. Not only did she continue to excel in academics, but she also medaled in the US Rowing National Championships and placed in the top 12 representing the USA in the 2015 World University Games in Korea.
When asked what she loves about being a veterinarian, she instantly replies, "Being a part of a pet's family and building that relationship on a personal level is very fulfilling." And as for joining the Wilkinson Animal Hospital team, "It immediately felt like home here. It is a joy working with such a well-trained team that is excited to come to work every day. I love working in a collaborative environment with such a caring staff".
Dr. Romo lives with her husband, Pedro, and 2 rescued cats, Olive and Petey, and 1 rescued dog, Felix. When not practicing, she enjoys visiting family, knitting, and gardening. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association.
